1. Alter your payment plans. If you find yourself in a situation whereby there are many people indebted to you, then your payment terms may be to blame. Long periods are generally inefficient as the defaulter may forget. Shorter periods of maybe two to three weeks will always keep things in perspective for the debtor.
2. Remind the debtor of his duty. It is a legal requirement that you should offer some form of regular notification be it a letter or a phone call. Failure to do so may end up badly for the creditor. Increasing the frequency of notifications will ensure that the debtor never forgets about their responsibilities.
3. Hire a third party collection agency. When the worst happens, then its time to get a professional to handle matters for you. Even if they are undergoing a period of hardship, it is no excuse for them to put other non-basic things before their debt collection agreement.
